Custom product pages: the App Store feature that does the work of ten ad variants

Your default App Store page has to work for everyone who arrives: a person searching for the category, a person who typed a competitor's name, a person who came from a social ad about one specific feature. It cannot be perfect for all of them. Custom product pages let it stop trying.

What a custom product page is

A variant of your store page with its own screenshots, preview video and promotional text, reachable through its own link. Apple Search Ads ad groups can point to it. Social ads can link to it. Each one is reviewed like a normal page and lives alongside the default.

Which intents deserve one

Not every keyword. Every intent. Someone searching "stories in my own voice" and someone searching "bedtime audio for toddlers" want the same app for different reasons. Group your keywords by the reason behind them. Each group with meaningful volume gets a page whose first screenshot speaks directly to that reason.

What to change, and what to leave

Change the first two screenshots and the promotional text. Those are what the person sees first and what answer the intent. Keep the icon, the title and the later screenshots stable so the pages stay recognisably the same app and so you can attribute differences to the part you changed.

How to measure

Compare pages on conversion from impression to install, and then to trial start, using the same keywords. A page that wins installs but loses trials has attracted the wrong people with a promise the app does not keep; fix the promise, not the page.

Common mistakes

  • One page per keyword. You end up with thirty pages nobody maintains.
  • Pages that only change the headline colour. If the first screenshot does not answer a different question, the page has no reason to exist.
  • Forgetting the social side. The same pages make Meta and TikTok ads land somewhere that matches the creative.

Custom product pages are free, under-used and usually the largest conversion lever in an account that has already fixed its default page. If you want help mapping intents to pages, that is part of what we do.
